DIRECTIONS
ASHLAND RESERVOIR BOAT LANDING, Ashland, MA
- From the Massachusetts Turnpike, take the exit for Rt. 495 South.
- Take Rt. 495 to Exit 21A (Rt. 135/East Main Street) towards Hopkinton.
- Follow Rt. 135 east through Hopkinton and into Ashland.
- Turn right onto Chestnut Street
- Follow Chestnut Street south for approximately 2 miles.
(It will wind uphill).
- Turn right onto South Street.
- Follow South Street to the end.
- Turn right and follow the street down the hill to the
Boat Landing.
ASHLAND STATE PARK, Ashland, MA
- From the Massachusetts Turnpike, take the exit for Rt. 495 South.
- Take Rt. 495 to Exit 21A (Rt. 135/East Main Street) towards Hopkinton.
- Follow Rt. 135 east through Hopkinton and toward
Ashland.
- Knights of Columbus parking lot will be on the right as
you travel down hill into Ashland. (If you come to a light with a
Honey Dew Donuts near by, you have gone too far).
BATES SCHOOL, Wellesley, MA
- From Rt. 9 West, take the Weston Street Exit.
- Turn north on Weston Road toward Weston.
- Follow Weston Road past Pilgrim Street.
- Turn right onto Elmwood Road.
- Follow Elmwood Road for about 1/2 mile to Bates School
on the left.
- Park in the far back of the School parking lot.
BEVERLY CIVIL DEFENSE AIRPORT, Beverly, MA
- Take 128 North to Exit 20A (Rt. 1A/Hamilton).
- Bear right at the bottom of the exit ramp.
- Pass Texaco gas station on your left and turn left onto Conant Street
(first intersection). (There will be a flashing yellow/red light at this
intersection. Shopping center with CVS and Papa Gino’s will be on your
right.).
- At first light, turn right onto Rt. 97.
- Follow Rt. 97 for about 1 mile (you will pass Moraine Farms on your
right).
- Turn left onto L.P. Henderson Road. (You will see a large sign that says
Beverly Airport where you should turn).
- Proceed about 3/8 mile and turn right at your first real turnoff (but
BEFORE you get to the airport). (You will see a sign that says Beverly Civil
Defense Headquarters on our left and you should be turning right onto a
driveway).
- Follow the driveway through 2 chain link gates. After the second set of
gates, bear to the right and park anywhere in the long parking lot.
BLUE HILLS, Milton, MA
- Take Rt. 128 South to Exit 3 (Houghton's Pond)
(NOTE: If you are coming southbound on Rt. 128, then you will be on
Rt. 128/95 South BUT WATCH because Rt. 95 South will split off around Exit
12 (or so) and you will then be on Rt. 128 South AND Rt. 93 North. I
know this sounds confusing, yep you are in Massachusetts! All you need
to do is stay on Rt. 128 South and do NOT get off on Rt. 95 South (toward
Providence).
- Turn right at the stop sign onto Hillside Street.
- Houghton's Pond is located approximately 1/4 mile on the
right.
- Continue 1/4 mile to the reservation headquarters on the
left.
BOXFORD STATE FOREST, Boxford, MA
- Take Rt. 495 or Rt. 128/95 to Route 114 (Go East
on 114 if you take 495, Go West on 114 if you take 128/95).
- If you are coming from 495, go approximately 6 or 7
miles on 114 East, and take a Left onto Sharpner's
Pond Road a short distance after you pass Harold Parker Road on your right.
- If you are coming from 128/95, take a Right onto
Sharpner's Pond Road after you pass Middleton Farm Supply on your right.
- Follow Sharpner's Pond Road for 1 1/2 - 2 miles or so where
it makes a sharp turn to the left.
- The parking is directly ahead at that turn. If the
gate is closed, park alongside the road.
BROX INDUSTRIES, Dracut, MA
- Take 93 North to Exit for (Rt. 110 Dracut/Methuen).
- Go around the rotary and pick up Rt. 110 West heading
toward Dracut.
- Follow Rt. 110 West for approximately 2 miles. (The
river will be on your left).
- About 1/4 mile after a sign saying, "Entering
Dracut," go slow and watch for the "Brox Industries" red,
white and black sign on your right.
- Turn right at the sign and follow the road up a hill to
a 2-way stop sign.
- CAREFULLY cross through this intersection and go through
the chain link fence and park in front of the Brox Main Office Building.
NOTE: This is a working sand and gravel
facility. Everyone training at Brox MUST meet at the Main Office
Building and proceed into the facility as one group. Also, everyone
MUST wear appropriate safety equipment at all times.
CALLAHAN STATE PARK, Framingham, MA
- Take Rt. 9 to Framingham Center, Edgehill Road Exit.
- Bear right onto Rt. 30 West.
- After passing over Interstate 90 (Mass Pike), turn right
onto Mill Street.
- Turn left onto Belknap Road.
- Turn right onto Millwood Street.
- Park in the parking lot on the left.
CAT ROCK PARK (WESTON CONSERVATION LAND),
Weston, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 26 to Rt. 20 East
- Then follow signs for Route 117 West.
- Follow Route 117 West for approximately 1 mile.
- Then take a right onto Drabbington Way.
- Follow Drabbington Way to the parking lot at the end.
CEDAR HILLS GIRL SCOUT CAMP, Waltham, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 28 Trapelo Road.
- Take Trapelo Road (East) toward Waltham (this would be a
left off of the exit if coming from the North).
- Follow Trapelo Road for approximately 3.5 miles to Rt.
60.
- Take a right turn onto Rt. 60 (Waverly Oaks Road).
- Go another mile, and at the light, bear right onto Beaver Street.
- The driveway is the second on the right (#265 Beaver
Street).
- Pull up past the buildings to the top of the hill and
the parking area is on the right.
CENTENNIAL PARK, Wellesley, MA
- From Rt. 9 heading east, take a right at the
stoplight (Oakland Street) just after the junction with Rt. 16. Follow
Oakland Street past Mass. Bay Community College; as the road curves to the
left (approximately 1/2 mile), you’ll see the sign for Centennial Park on
the right. Follow the long dirt road down to the parking area.
- From Rt. 9 heading west, you’ll need to
take the Rt. 16 exit, take a left back over Rt. 9, then another left to get
back onto Rt. 9 heading east. Follow directions as above.
CHATHAM BUILDINGS, Chatham, MA
- Once on the Cape, take Rt. 6 East to Rt. 137 South (Exit 11).
- Take a left off the Exit onto Rt. 137 South.
- Go through one set of lights. At the second intersection (has flashing
lights; Old Queen Anne Rd), take a left.
- Follow through one intersection (Training Field Rd).
- Continue 3 miles from this intersection.
- You will see buildings on both sides of the road (3 big buildings, 5
smaller ones) (we will likely be training around the buildings on the left
hand side of the road).
- To get the parking lot around these buildings, go to the intersection,
turn left. Go about 100 yards and turn left into driveway and follow around
to the back of the buildings to a parking lot.
CHERRY BROOK (WESTON CONSERVATION LAND),
Weston, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 26 to Rt. 20 West.
- Continue on Rt. 20 West for approximately 2 miles.
- Take a right turn onto Old Boston Post Road (across from
where you'd turn left to go to Regis College).
- Follow Old Boston Post Road into the Town Center.
- Turn right onto Concord Road.
- A short distance after RR tracks, stay left on Concord
Road when the road forks.
- The parking area is a small dirt lot on the left.
(You've gone too far if you come to the Campion Center and the fork in the
road where Concord Road meets Sudbury Road).
CONCORD TOWN FOREST, Concord, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Rt. 2 West
- Turn right onto Rt. 126 ( going left would take you to
Walden Pond).
- The Town Forest is about 1/4-1/2 mile down on the right
across from the high school. There is a paved parking lot.
- If you get to the Courthouse, you've gone too far.
EAST BOSTON CAMPGROUND, Westford, MA
- Rt. 225 through Bedford, Carlisle, and on into Westford.
- After the big soccer fields in Westford, take a RIGHT on Carlisle Road
(there's a small, old schoolhouse/church on the corner).
- Straight through 4-way intersection with Rt. 110, past
Rt. 495, past
Drew Farm.
- Continue to Westford Town Common/Triangle (has cannon with stack of cannon
balls).
- RIGHT on Lincoln Street so Common is on your left and Parish Hall is on
right.
- Follow past Police Station and Fire Station.
- Lincoln turns into Main Street. Follow Main Street to where there is a
kind of "Y" in the road.
- Bear LEFT on to Depot Street (this is where most people get lost – look
for Y!).
- Follow Depot Street past Abbott School and along several curves, staying
on Depot Street.
- You'll come to an overpass followed by train tracks, there is a farm stand
with a little gazebo on the right side of the road just after the tracks.
- The entrance to East Boston Camps is on your left immediately after the
railroad tracks and directly across from the farm stand, there should be a
big sign.
- LEFT into beat up asphalt parking area and follow short distance.
- Turn RIGHT on little road into East Boston camps.
ELSIE TURNER FIELD, Waltham, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 28A (Trapelo
Road/Waltham-Belmont)
- Follow Trapelo Road (Rt. 60 East) for about 2 miles
from Belmont into Waltham.
- Watch for wooden sign for "Elsie Turner Field"
on the left.
FLAGG HILL CONSERVATION AREA, Stow, MA
- From 495 Heading North
- Take Route 117 East for approximately 5 miles (you'll
pass the elementary school, a shopping plaza, and the Center School on your
left).
- Turn Left onto West Acton Road just after the Center
School.
- You'll see a firehouse on your left. The parking
lot is 1.3 miles past the firehouse next to a gray cement building on the
Left.
- From 495 Heading South
- Take Route 111 South for approximately 4 miles.
- Turn Right onto Central Street.
- Go about 1/8 mile and bear right at the fork onto Willow
Street.
- When Willow Street crosses into Stow, it becomes West
Acton Road.
- The parking lot will be approximately 1/2 mile on your
right next to a gray cement building.
- From Route 2 Heading East
- Take Route 495 South to Route 111 South.
- Take Route 111 South for approximately 4 miles.
- Turn Right onto Central Street.
- Follow directions for 495 Heading South above.
- From Route 2 Heading West
- Take Route 111 North into Acton and follow it for about
1.5 miles to Central Street.
- Turn Left onto Central Street.
- Follow directions for 495 Heading South above.
FOSS FARM, Carlisle, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 31B (Rts 4/225). You will
be heading West toward Bedford (This is the same way we go to Shawsheen
Cemetery and Hartwell TF).
- Pass Shawsheen Cemetery on right and keep following Rt.
225 West. You will go through Bedford Town Forest (past the Common and
Fire Station).
- Just after Bedford Farms Ice Cream, Rt. 225 breaks off
to the left and Rt. 4 goes straight. You need to bear to the left to
stay on Rt. 225 West.
- Go about 2 miles on Rt. 225 and you will cross over the
Concord/Shawsheen River.
- Approximately 3/10th of a mile further is the dirt
parking lot on the right. (Lot is hard to see because of the curve of
the road and the brush, so go slow after cross the river).
F. GILBERT HILL STATE FOREST, Foxboro, MA
(These are the directions to the AT&T
Tower located in the center of the State Park)

From Rt. 128, take the exit for Rt. 95 South.
Follow Rt. 95 South to the exit for Rt. 1 South (exit 9
or 10)
Follow Rt. 1 South for approximately 5.3 miles to High
Rock Street on the left. (This road is very hard to see so watch for a
stop light at approximately 4.7 miles and then a Dunkin' Donuts and a NAPA
Autobody store on your left at approximately 5.2 miles . The turn is
easy to miss!)
Follow the secondary road into the park to the AT&T
Tower at the end.

Head North on Route 1
After 2nd
intersection (Thurston St.), continue north. Just after Myrtle St. on
left side look for small paved road on right side. This is High Rock
Road. Turn right onto High Rock Road and follow road to top of hill.
You will reach a large parking area near tower.
GREAT BROOK STATE PARK, Carlisle, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 31B (Rts. 4/225).
- Follow through the town of Bedford, staying to the right (on 4/225) when
Rt.
62 forks off to the left.
- Shortly after this (across from the Volkswagon dealership),
Rt. 225
forks to the left and Rt. 4 continues straight.
- Follow Rt. 225 to the rotary at Carlisle Center.
- Take the first right off the rotary onto Lowell Street.
- Go straight for about 1.5 miles and keep your eye open for Wolf Rock Road
on the right.
- Take a right onto Wolf Rock Road and continue to the end (cul de sac) and
park. Don’t block the path (opposite the road) as people take their horses
through there.
GREAT HILL, Acton, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Route 2 West.
- From Route 2, take Route 27 South.
- Go about a mile or so and take a left at the set of
lights onto School Street.
- Go about 1/2 mile or so and you will see an Acton fire station
on the left.
- Access to the woods/field is from a parking lot behind
the fire station (take the little road on the far side of the fire station
to get there).
GREENOUGH STATE PARK, Carlisle, MA
Location #1:
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 31B (Rts. 4/225).
- Follow through the town of Bedford, staying to the right (on
Rts. 4/225) when Rt.
62 forks off to the left.
- Shortly after this (across from the Volkswagon dealership),
Rt. 225
forks to the left and Rt. 4 continues straight.
- Follow Rt. 225 toward Carlisle.
- Approximately .9 miles after crossing the Concord River,
take the first right on to Maple Street.
- Go .8 miles along Maple Street and park on the side of
the road in front of a trail leading into the woods on the right.
Location #2:
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 31B (Rts. 4/225).
- Follow through the town of Bedford, staying to the right (on
Rts. 4/225) when Rt.
62 forks off to the left.
- Shortly after this (across from the Volkswagen dealership),
Rt. 225
forks to the left and Rt. 4 continues straight.
- Follow Rt. 225 toward Carlisle.
- Approximately .9 miles after crossing the Concord River,
take the first right on to Maple Street.
- Go 1.3 miles along Maple Street to a stop sign.
- Turn right and pull into dirt parking area on the right
about .2 miles further.
HALE RESERVATION, Westwood, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 16 (Rt. 109 West).
- Follow Rt. 109 West for 1 mile.
- Turn right onto Dover Road (there will be a small dark
green sign for Westwood DPW).
- Follow Dover Road for approximately 1/2 mile and then
turn right onto Carby Street.
- Follow Carby Street approximately 1/4 mile to the gate
for Hale Reservation.
- Go through the gate and drive up the hill and turn left
into the Cat Rock Parking lot which is right after a big field on the left.
HAROLD PARKER STATE FOREST, Andover, MA
- From
Route 93, take exit 41 (Route 125)
- Follow
125 North (toward Andover), for about 4 miles to the State Police Barracks
(on right).
- Turn
right at light onto Harold Parker Rd.
- Follow
to end and turn left on Jenkins Road.
- Then
take a right on Middleton Road.
- The
Headquarters is approximately 1 mile on the left.
- From
Route 495, take exit 42 (Route 114).
- Take
Route 114 East.
- Go
about
6 miles, and take a right at the brown State Forest
Sign.
- Follow
this road to the end and take a left.
- The
Headquarters will be on the left.
HAROLD RAFTON RESERVATION, Andover, MA
- From Route 495,
take Route 133 East (Exit 39).
- Follow Route 133 East a mile or so and take a left on Hagget's Pond
Road (there is a traffic light and a little store on your left).
- Follow Hagget's Pond Road for about 2 miles or so and
then take a right onto High Plain Road.
- Follow High Plain Road for about a mile or so to the top
of the rise in the road (there is a sign that says "limited sight
distance").
- Park on the right near the leaf drop off/recycle area.
- From Route 93, Take
Route 133 East (Exit 43).
- At your first light (less than 1/2 mile
from the exit), take a left (I think the road is Greenwood).
- Follow this road for a mile or so and then take a left
on High Plain Road (there's a four way intersection a bit before you get to
it).
- Follow High Plain Road over Routes 93 and 495.
- Go up a small hill and the parking will be on your left
at the top near the leaf drop off/recycle area.
HARTWELL TOWN FOREST (BEDFORD TOWN FOREST), Bedford, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 31 B for Rts 4/225 toward
Bedford.
- Go past Shawsheen Cemetery and past Rt. 62.
- Turn left onto Loomis Street (you will be at a traffic
light at the CVS).
- Turn left at stop sign onto South Road.
- Take second right onto Hartwell Road.
- Park on the left along side the road at the entrance to
the Town Forest.
HOPKINTON STATE PARK, Hopkinton, MA
(Ranger's Station Headquarters)
- From the Massachusetts Turnpike, take the exit for Rt. 495 South.
- Take Rt. 495 South to Exit 21A (Rt. 135/East Main Street) towards Hopkinton.
- Take Rt. 135 East for approximately 2 miles to the center of Hopkinton
(there will be a traffic light with a gas station on the left).
- Turn left at the light onto Rt. 85 North.
- Follow Rt. 85 north for approximately 1 mile.
- After passing a wetland area on your left, you will see a brown sign that
says Hopkinton State Park Headquarters.
- Turn left into the driveway and park in the rear of the parking lot to the
left of the brown buildings.
HORTON MEMORIAL TRAIL/LIME KILN, Bolton, MA
- From Route 495, Take Route 117 East.
- Follow Route 117 East for about 1 1/2 miles.
- Parking is on the left just before a brown scalloped
fence.
JIMINY PEAK, Hancock, MA
- Take I-90 East/West to Exit 2 (Lee Exit).
- Follow signs to Pittsfield, MA. You will be on Rt. 7
North which you will follow virtually the entire way.
- After leaving Pittsfield, you will continue to follow
Rt. 7 North for another 9.5 miles or so.
- Watch for a sign saying "Brodie Mountain Road"
on your right and a sign saying "Jiminy Peak" on your left.
- Turn left onto Brodie Mountain Road and follow for
another 2.8 miles until you see the entrance to Jiminy Peak on your left.
LEOMINSTER STATE FOREST, Westminster, MA
- From 495, Take Route 2 West.
- From Route 2, Take Exit 28, Route 31 South.
- Follow Route 31 for about 2 miles. You will pass the Forest Headquarters
on your right.
- Parking will be in the lot on the left at the sign for
the Princeton town line.
LOWELL DRACUT TYNGSBORO STATE FOREST,
Lowell, MA
- From 495, Take Exit 38, Route 38 toward
Lowell/Tewksbury.
- Off the exit, turn onto MAIN ST/Route 38 North.
- Continue to follow Route 38 North for approximately 2
miles (you will pass Saints Memorial Hospital on your left).
- Enter the rotary and take the 2nd exit onto the VFW HWY.
- Go about 2 miles and the VFW HWY becomes Route 113 West.
- Go through a traffic light with a McDonald's on your
right.
- At the next traffic light, turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto VARNUM
AVE.
- You will pass the Lowell General Hospital on your right.
- Continue to follow Varnum Avenue for a few miles.
- Turn right onto Trotting Park Road. This is a dead
end road.
- Follow this road to the end to the parking area.
MARBLE HILL, Stow, MA
- Take 495 to Route 117 East (Exit 27 toward
Maynard/Stow).
- Follow 117 East for about 4 1/2
miles.
- Take
a left into the Pompositticut Elementary school.
- The
trail heads are behind the school.
MASSACHUSETTS STATE POLICE ACADEMY, New
Braintree, MA
FROM THE WEST
- Take Mass Pike to Exit 8 (Palmer Exit), turn left on Rte. 32.
- Take Rte. 32 North into the town of Ware.
- At the center of town take a right on Rte. 9 (Rte. 9 East) - highway
becomes Rte. 9 East & Rte. 32 North at this point.
- Follow Rte. 9E/32N through the center of town, at the Ware/West Brookfield
town line (Rte. 9 & 32 split here).
- Turn left onto Rte. 32 North (toward Gilbertville).
- After passing Kardas Market on left and elementary school on right, take a
right onto New Braintree Rd. (just before R/R tracks).
- Follow New Braintree Rd. for approximately 4.5 miles to the intersection
of West Brookfield Road.
- Take a left onto West Brookfield Road.
- Academy entrance is ½ mile on left. (Approximately 18 miles from Exit 8
on Turnpike).
FROM
THE EAST
- Take Mass Pike to Exit 9 (Sturbridge Exit).
- After going through toll booths take first exit - Rte. 20 West toward
Sturbridge.
- Stay on Rte. 20 West for 1 to 2 miles until you reach Rte. 148.
- Take Rte. 148 North (right off of Rte. 20 by Fire Station).
- Stay on Rte. 148 North for approximately 10 miles into the town of
Brookfield.
- At the intersection of Rte. 9 and 148, take a left to go West on Rte. 9
(There should be a sign at this intersection for "State Police New
Braintree").
- Stay on Rte. 9 West for approximately 2 miles into the center of West
Brookfield.
- Take a right onto School Street just before the Town Common. The Town
Common will be on the left of School Street and the bandstand is on the
right. (Look for SP New Braintree Sign).
- Follow School Street to intersection of Rte. 67 (at stop sign).
- After stopping go straight across and within approximately 100 feet take a
right onto New Braintree Road. (Look for SP New Braintree sign).
- Stay on New Braintree Road for approximately 5 miles and the Academy
entrance will be on the left.
MASSASOIT STATE PARK, Taunton, MA
- From Rt. 24 South, take Exit 13A (Rt. 44 East).
- Cross back over Rt. 24 and follow Rt. 44 East to the
first set of lights.
- At first set of lights, turn right onto Orchard
Street. Orchard Street will merge into South Street. South
Street will merge into Old Colony Street.
- Old Colony Street will dead-end at a stop sign at
T-intersection (a gas station will be on your left and a Post Office will be
directly in front of you).
- At the stop sign, turn left onto Middletown Road (you
will also be following signs for the Taunton Airport).
- Follow Middletown Road for approximately two
miles. You will pass a large lake on your right.
- Turn right into Massasoit State Park where you see the
State Park sign on your right.
- Follow driveway all the way to Park Directions Station.
MINUTEMAN NATIONAL PARK, Lexington, MA
- Take Rt. 128 to Exit 30B (Rt. 2A West).
- Follow Rt. 2A for 1.5 – 2 miles.
- Take a right onto Hanscom Road (flashing yellow light).
- At first fork, bear left.
- At stop sign, take a left (do not drive into the airport).
- After the road makes a sharp right (stop sign), continue another 100 feet
or so and take a left into a small dirt parking lot.
- ALTERNATE ENTRANCE:
Take 128 to Exit 30B
(Route 2A West)
Follow 2A past the
entrance to Hanscom
Park in the Hartwell
Tavern parking lot, on the right about 1/2 mile past the Hanscom entrance
MT. MISERY, Lincoln, MA
- From Rt. 128 North, take
the Rt. 20 Exit.
- Head east on Rt. 20 toward Waltham.
- Proceed through the first light at the top of the hill
but get in the left lane and turn left onto Rt. 117 West at the next
flashing light.
- Follow Rt. 117 West as it travels downhill through a
residential area.
- Turn left at the light at the bottom of the hill,
staying on Rt. 117 West.
- Follow Rt. 117 West for several miles and proceed
through the light at the intersection of Rt. 117 West and Rt. 126, staying
on Rt. 117 West.
- Entrance to Mt. Misery parking lot will be 3/4 mile on
the right. Go slow so you don't miss it as it is poorly marked.
- From Rt. 2 West, turn left
onto Rt. 126 South.
- Follow Rt. 126 South past Walden Pond to intersection of
Rt. 126 and Rt. 117.
- Turn right onto Rt. 117 West.
- Entrance to Mt. Misery parking lot will be 3/4 mile on
the right. Go slow so you don't miss it as it is poorly marked.
NAGOG HILL/GRASSY POND, Acton, MA
- From 495
- Take Exit 31, Route 119 East toward Littleton.
- Stay straight to go onto GREAT RD/MA-119/2A.
- Go about 3 miles and watch
for a large horse farm on your right, then the "Entering Acton"
sign on your right.
- The turn onto Nashoba Road is just after the Acton sign.
- Take a RIGHT onto Nashoba Road (the right is before the
traffic light at the pond).
- Follow Nashoba Road for a mile or so, then at the STOP
sign take a left onto Nagog Hill Road.
- Follow this for a mile or so and parking is on the
right.
- From Route 2 West from 95
- Follow Route 2 West to the rotary at the Concord
Prison.
- At the rotary, take your second right onto route 2A.
- Follow 2A past the intersection with Route
27.
- About a mile or so after crossing 27, you'll see a pond
on your left.
- Go through the lights at the pond (they are for
the shopping plaza on the right)
- Take an almost immediate left onto Nashoba Rd.
- Follow for a mile or so to a stop sign.
- At stop sign turn Left onto Nagog Hill Road.
- Follow this for a mile or so and the parking is on the
right.
NAHANTON PARK, Newton, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 19B (Highland Ave/Needham).
- At the first light, take a left.
- At next light, take another left.
- Go approximately 1 mile, crossing back over Rt. 128 and also crossing the
Charles River.
- Turn left into the parking lot with a wood sign that says Nahanton Park.
NASHOBA BROOK (DAVIS ROAD ENTRANCE), Acton, MA
- From Rt. 128, take the exit for Rt. 2 West.
- Follow to the rotary at the prison.
- At the rotary, take your second right off the rotary
onto Rt. 2A.
- Follow Rt. 2A for approximately 2 miles.
- Turn Right onto Davis Road (if you get to the
intersection with Route 27 you have gone too far).
- Follow Davis Road for less than a mile and the parking
area is on your left.
NASHOBA BROOK (WHEELER LANE ENTRANCE), Acton, MA
- From Rt. 128, take the exit for Rt. 2 West.
- Follow to the rotary at the prison.
- At the rotary, take your second right off the rotary
onto Rt. 2A.
- Follow Rt. 2A for approximately 2 miles to the lights at
the intersection with Rt. 27.
- Turn right onto Rt. 27.
- Follow Rt. 27 for about 1 mile.
- Watch for a light blue building on your left and then a
diamond shaped yellow dead end sign on your right. The dead end is
Wheeler Road.
- Turn right onto Wheeler Road and follow it to the
parking lot at the end.
NATICK TOWN FOREST, Natick, MA
- Take Rt. 128, take Rt. 9 West to Natick.
- At Oak Street Rotary, turn left onto Oak Street.
- Go south on Oak Street to bottom of hill.
- Park in small parking lot on the right by the brook.
NEEDHAM DPW Yard, Needham, MA
- From the NORTH:
- Rt. 128/95 SOUTH to Exit 19B (Needham/Highland
Avenue).
- Bear RIGHT off the ramp. At your SECOND light, make a
LEFT turn onto WEBSTER STREET.
- Follow Webster Street to your FOURTH light and turn LEFT
on DEDHAM STREET/RT. 135 EAST. (You will know you are at the correct light
because there will be a Texaco Gas Station at this intersection).
- Follow Dedham Street/Rt. 135 for about .2 miles (about
200 yards).
- You will go under a set of railroad tracks. After the
underpass, look for a brown sign on the left for "DeFazio's Park."
Turn LEFT onto a dirt road at the sign and follow the road back into the
large parking lot.
- Park far in the back along the soccer field.
- From the SOUTH:
- Rt. 128/95 North to Exit 17 (Needham/Rt. 135).
- Bear RIGHT off the ramp onto DEDHAM STREET/RT. 135
WEST.
- After your FIRST light, go about .2 miles (about 200
yards) and look for a brown sign on the right for "DeFazio's
Park."
- (You will pass one other driveway which goes into the
DPW yard itself).
- Turn RIGHT onto a dirt road before the sign and follow
the road back into the large parking lot. Park far in the back along the
soccer field.
NEEDHAM TOWN FOREST, Needham, MA
- From Rt. 128 North or South, take Exit 19B (Highland
Ave/Needham).
- Continue straight on Highland Avenue for five lights
(you will pass Sudbury Farms Grocery on the right, then Dunkin’ Donuts).
- At the sixth light (you will have just passed Walgreen’s
on your left), turn right onto Great Plain Avenue.
- Continue through the second light and turn left onto Marked
Tree Road.
- At the second stop sign, turn left onto Central Ave.
- The Needham Town Forest is about 1/4 mile down on the
left. There will be a gravel parking lot with a small pond.
NEEDHAM TRANSFER STATION, Needham, MA
- From
Rt. 128 North or South, take Exit 17 (Rt. 135) toward Needham.
- Coming
off the ramp, heading WEST on Rt. 135 WEST. (You will be
- heading
toward
NEEDHAM and NOT to Dedham).
- At
your first light, turn LEFT onto SOUTH STREET.
- At
a "Y" in the road, stay to the RIGHT onto HIGH ROCK STREET.
- At
your first stop sign, go straight and cross over Chestnut Street.
- Stay
on HIGH ROCK STREET to your next stop sign.
- At
the stop sign, turn LEFT onto MARKED TREE ROAD.
- At
the next stop sign, turn LEFT onto CENTRAL AVENUE.
- Go
around a bend in the road and you will see a sign for the NEEDHAM
- TRANSFER
STATION off on your RIGHT. Counting
that first entrance as
- the
first driveway make a RIGHT turn into the THIRD
DRIVEWAY
Drive
into the Transfer Station and go straight down the hill, keeping
the big
gray building on your right.
- Go
past your first macadam driveway and make the next RIGHT turn onto a
dirt road heading back into the center of the Transfer Station.
- The
Training Area is directly in front of you.
NOANET WOODS, Dover, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 17.
- Take Rt. 135 West.
- Go approximately 1 mile and turn left onto South Street.
- Go approximately 1 mile (at fork, stay left on South
Street).
- At crossroads with Chestnut Street turn left (there is
no street sign here but there is a blinking red light).
- Follow Chestnut Street for 0.4 miles.
- Then curve right and continue on Dedham Street for 1.9
miles to the entrance on the left.
- The entrance will have a sign that says Caryl Park/Noanet
Woodlands.
NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIELDS, Burlington,
MA
- Take Route 128 to Exit 33A.
- Turn right at the fourth traffic light onto
South Bedford Street.
- Go
about 3/10th of a mile and the entrance to Northeastern is on the left.
- Park
in the parking lot at the very top of the hill.
OAK HILL, Littleton, MA
- Take 495 to Route 2 West.
- After getting on Route 2 West you will go
2/10th of a mile or so and then get off on the Taylor Street exit (Exit 39).
- Turn LEFT at the end of the exit.
- Follow that road to a stop sign (3-way stop), and turn LEFT.
- Oak Hill
Road is a short distance up on your RIGHT.
- Turn RIGHT, and the parking is about
100 meters or so up on your right.
PATCH HILL (ROBINSON CARRIAGE), Boxboro, MA
- Take 495 to Route 2 West.
- After getting on Route 2 West you will go
2/10th of a mile or so and then get off on the Taylor Street exit (Exit 39).
- Take
a right off the ramp, cross back over Route 2 and continue 1 mile or so and
you will see the playing field on your right.
- Park
at the playing field and the conservation land is behind the field.
PONY FAIRGROUNDS, Weston,
MA
- If traveling North on Rt. 128, take
Exit 24 to Rt. 30 West.
- Continue approximately two miles and make right turn
onto Wellesley Street.
- Follow Wellesley Street for approximately one mile past
Regis College on the left to a small, dark, dirt pull-off on the right.
- If traveling South on Rt.128, take
Exit 26 to Rt. 20 west.
- Continue approximately two miles and make a left turn
onto Wellesley Street.
- Bear right at the fork in the road.
- Follow Wellesley Street for approximately one mile to a
small, dark, dirt pull-off on the left. (You have gone too far if you
pass Regis College on the right).
PROUTY WOODS, Littleton, MA
- Traveling North or South on Route 495 take Exit 30 (Routes 2A/110).
- Turn at the end of the ramp for Routes 2A/110 East.
- Proceed a short distance (approx. 1000 feet) and turn right on Rogers Street.
(The yellow Littleton Historical Society building will be on your left when you
turn).
- Very quickly at the top of the hill turn right onto Foster Street.
- Almost immediately you will see the fire station on your left, and at the far edge of the Fire Station parking lot is Wilderness Road.
- The NEFF Prouty Woods Community Forest sign directs traffic to the left onto Wilderness Road.
- Proceed up Wilderness Road.
- To access the forest, follow Wilderness Road to the gate and park next to the barn.
READING TOWN FOREST, Reading, MA
- Take Rt. 93 to Exit 38, Rt. 129 East
- Follow Rt. 129 East for approximately 1 mile to a set
of lights at the bottom of a small hill (there will be a reddish-color
convenience store set back on the left, there is NO street sign).
- Turn left onto this road before the convenience store
and follow for approximately 1 mile (stay left at fork).
- Look for sign for Meadowbrook Golf Club on your left and
pull in and park at the far end of the upper parking lot alongside the
tennis court.
REGIS
COLLEGE (WESTON CONSERVATION LAND), Weston, MA
Directions
if you are coming from the south:
- From Rt.
128 NORTH, take Exit 24 to Rt. 30
West.
- Continue on Rt. 30 WEST for approximately two
miles.
- Make RIGHT turn on to Wellesley Street at the
light.
- Follow Wellesley Street for approximately 1/2 - 1
mile to the second entrance to Regis College on your LEFT.
- Go into the campus and stay right (you'll curve
through a parking lot, then head relatively straight until you see a parking
lot on your right opposite the student union.
- The conservation area is accessed through the
parking lot.
Directions
if you are coming from the north:
- From Rt.128 SOUTH, take Exit 26 to Rt. 20 WEST.
- Continue approximately two miles and make a LEFT
turn onto Wellesley Street.
- Bear RIGHT at the fork in the road onto Wellesley
Street.
- Follow Wellesley Street for approximately two miles to the first
entrance to Regis College on your RIGHT.
- Follow the
rest of the directions from above.
ROCK MEADOW, Belmont, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Trapelo Road (Rt. 60 East) toward Belmont.
- After junction with Rt. 60, turn left on Mill Road.
- Follow Mill Road up the hill, past McLean Hospital.
- Turn left into Rock Meadow Reservation parking lot just before a brown
wooden sign on the left. (This dirt turn-off is very hard to see -- so
drive slow until you find it!)
RUTLAND
STATE PARK, Rutland, MA
(Directions
to the triangular parking area at the intersection of Rts. 122 and 122A)
FROM EAST
ON MASS TURNPIKE:
- Take Mass Pike West
(I-90) to the new Exit 11A for Rt. 146 WEST.
- Follow Rt. 146 WEST toward Worcester. Go through two(?) lights and, at the second lights,
follow signs for I-290 East (this Rt. will take you briefly through a
residential area).
- Pick up I-290 East and follow to Exit 17 (Rt. 9).
- Turn LEFT on Rt. 9 West (Belmont Street).
- Continue following Rt. 9 West and go straight
through the first large intersection you come to (you will see the Worcester
Police Station on your left and you will pass the Courthouse on your left).
- Continue on Rt. 9 West until you come to another
MAJOR intersection (you will see a shopping plaza on your right and Elm
Park on your left).
- At this intersection, Rt. 9 West turns left at
Elm Park, but you will stay straight on to Highland Street.
(Please note that you will also be following signs for the Worcester
Airport).
- Follow Highland Street to a rotary and take your
first right off the rotary on to Pleasant Street.
(Watch for Airport signs).
- Continue on Pleasant Street until you come to
busy intersection where there is a bank, several gas stations, etc.
At this intersection, Pleasant Street becomes Rt. 122 North as it
winds up a hill.
- Travel up a long hill and pass the entrance to
the airport on your left.
- After the intersection of Rt. 56 and Rt. 122,
continue following Rt. 122 North through Paxton.
At the bottom of a hill, you will come to the intersection of Rt. 122
and Rt. 122A South.
- We will meet at a triangular turn-around where
Rt. 122 intersects with Rt. 122A.
BASIC
DIRECTIONS FROM EAST-WEST ON MASS TURNPIKE:
- Follow Mass
Turnpike East or West to Auburn exit.
- South on Rt. 12 to Rt. 20 West.
- West on Rt. 20 to Rt. 56 North.
- North on Rt. 56 to Rt. 122 North.

- We will meet at a triangular turn-around where

SARAH DOUBLET CONSERVATION AREA, Littleton, MA
- From 495
- Take Exit 31, Route 119 East toward Littleton.
- Stay straight to go onto GREAT RD/MA-119/2A.
- Go about 3 miles and watch
for a large horse farm on your right, then the "Entering Acton"
sign on your right.
- The turn onto Nashoba Road is just after the Acton sign.
- Take a RIGHT onto Nashoba Road (the right is before the
traffic light at the pond).
- Follow Nashoba Road for a mile or so to a Stop sign.
- Go straight through the Stop Sign.
- Go less than 1/4 mile and take a left onto Charter Road
(a small dirt driveway)
- Follow the dirt road to the parking area at the top of
the hill.
- From Route 2 West from 95
- Follow Route 2 West to the rotary at the Concord
Prison.
- At the rotary, take your second right onto route 2A.
- Follow 2A past the intersection with Route
27.

SHAWSHEEN CEMETERY, Bedford, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 31B (Rts. 4/225). You’ll be heading
west towards Bedford.
- Go through one set of lights; at the second set of lights, take a right
– not onto the main road, though, but onto a little road that is the
cemetery entrance (iron gates, says Shawsheen Cemetery). The little road is
before the main road.
- Once in the cemetery, at the first opportunity, take a right (maybe 2/10
mile).
- Continue on that road (less than ½ mile, mostly straight) until you see a
small maintenance building on the right.
- Take a left at that point, and continue straight until you reach the end
(maybe 2/10 mile, a pile of dirt on the left, access to the woods straight
ahead).
SPRINGS BROOK, Bedford, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 31 B for Rts 4/225 toward
Bedford.
- Go past Shawsheen Cemetery and past Rt. 62.
- Go past the left onto Loomis Street where you would turn
to go to Hartwell TF (traffic light at CVS).
- Turn right at Hillside Avenue (you will see sign for VA
Hospital).
- Follow Hillside Avenue for about 1/4 - 1/2 a mile and
Springs Road will come in at an angle from the left.
- Keep going straight.
- Go straight through the 4 -way stop intersection
- Shortly you will see a soccer field on your right.
- Parking is along a dirt road on the right past the
soccer field.
STOW TOWN FOREST, Stow, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Rt. 2 West toward Concord.
- Turn left onto Rt. 62 South.
- Follow Rt. 62 South (same as Rt. 117) through Maynard to
Stow.
- Soon after entering Stow, turn left on Bradley Lane (you
will see a small, white street sign. And, if you have reached the fork
between Rts. 62 and 117, you have gone too far).
- Follow Bradley Land to entrance to Stow Town Forest.
- Park at the Ball Field.
TOWLE FIELD, Carlisle, MA
- From Rt. 128, take Exit 31B (Rts. 4/225).
- Follow through the town of Bedford, staying to the right (on 4/225) when
Rt.
62 forks off to the left.
- Shortly after this (across from the Volkswagen dealership),
Rt. 225
forks to the left and Rt. 4 continues straight.
- Follow Rt. 225 to the rotary at Carlisle Center.
- Take the second right off the rotary, then another right almost
immediately (you will be staying on Rt. 225 also known as Westford Road).
- Follow past the Carlisle Town Hall and Fire Station about 1 mile to crest
of hill.
- Take a left into a small dirt parking lot with a brown sign saying
Carlisle Conservation Land.
TOWNSEND STATE FOREST, Townsend, MA
- Take 495 to Route 119 West (Exit 31).
- Follow 119 West for several miles,
through Groton and Pepperell and into Townsend.
- Take
a Right onto Route 13 North in Townsend Center.
- Go
slightly more than a mile and turn Left on Fessenden Hill Road. This
is a dirt road.
- Pass
a couple of houses on your right, and the park dirt parking area is on your
left.
WAYLAND CONSERVATION LAND, Wayland, MA
- Take Rt. 128 to Exit 26.
- Head west on Rt. 20 through Weston for 5.4 miles.
- At intersection with Rt. 27, take a right (towards Sudbury, Concord).
- Very shortly after you take this right, bear left on Rt. 27 (Rt. 126 will
continue straight).
- Follow Rt. 27 north for another .8 miles.
- After Bow road on left and across from the cemetery stone wall on the
right, take a left into a dirt half circle of conservation land parking.
WELLESLEY WOMEN'S RESEARCH CENTER,
Wellesley, MA
- From
Rt. 9 West, take the Rt. 16 West Exit.
- Follow
Rt. 16 West for several miles and through several lights.
- When
you get to the intersection of Rt. 135 and Rt. 16, there will be a light.
Go through that light but get into the left lane.
- At
the next light, bear left to stay on Rt. 16 West.
- Continue
along Rt. 16 West, passing the Dover Saddlery on your right, and Wellesley
College on your right.
- Go
slow for the next 1/2 mile or so and look for a driveway on your left
(before the Honneywell Farm). There will be a bronze sign that says,
"Wellesley Research Center." The address of the building is
#822.
- Turn into
the driveway and park in the large parking lot off on the right.
WESTOVER METRO AFB, Westover, MA
- Take Massachusetts Turnpike EAST or WEST to Exit 5.
- Bear RIGHT onto Rt. 33.
- At light, take LEFT and proceed NORTH on Rt. 33 for
approximately 1/2 mile.
- At first major intersection (used to be a rotary), look
for green road sign for WESTOVER ROAD.
- Bear RIGHT onto WESTOVER ROAD.
- Follow for 8/10 mile to flashing yellow light.
- Go RIGHT onto PADGETT STREET.
- Go straight through 1 stop sign.
- WESTOVER METRO AFB will be 1/2 mile on the RIGHT.
- The meeting will be in the only building in this area.
WHIPPLE HILL, Lexington, Wayland, MA
- Take Rt. 2 West to Rt. 225/4. (NOTE: This exit
does not exist on Rt. 2 East!)
- Follow Rt. 225/4 North to Rt. 2A.
- Turn right onto Rt. 2A North (Maple Street).
- Follow rt. 2A to where Rt. 2A turns right and becomes
Lowell Street.
- Instead of turning right, continue straight onto
Winchester Street.
- Park in the small parking area on the right side of
Winchester Street, just after passing Russel Road on the right.
(NOTE: This parking lot is very small so park close together or some
folks will have to park on Russel Street or one of the other nearby
residential streets).
WILLARD'S WOODS, Lexington, MA
- Take Rt.128/95 North to Exit 32B (Middlesex Turnpike
South). (This is the same exit
that you would take in order to go to the Burlington Mall).
- Follow
Middlesex Turnpike for about 1/2 mile to Adams Street at a set of lights.
(You will pass a Circuit City on your right and a McDonalds on your
left).
- Turn
right on Adams Street.
- Follow
Adams Street for approximately 1/2 mile to Millbrook Road.
- Turn
Right on Millbrook Road.
- Follow
Millbrook Road to the end (approximately 1/10 mile) and turn Left on Suzanne
Street.
- Follow
Suzanne Street to the end (approximately 1/10 mile) and turn Right on Brent
Street.
- Go straight
to the end of Brent Street, where there is a public pool, and park along the
side of the road.
WILMINGTON TOWN FOREST, Wilmington, MA
- From Route 93 take Route 125 towards Andover (Turn right if heading north on 93, left if heading south).
- Go to the first light (less than 1/4 mile) and turn left on Ballardvale St.
- Follow that for about 1 mile and turn right onto Research Drive.
- Follow that all the way to the end and park by the gate.
WILSON MOUNTAIN, Dedham, MA
- Take 128 to Exit 17 (Rt. 135).
- Follow Rt. 135 East toward
Dedham.
- Parking lot is 1/2 mile on
the right directly across from a nursing home.
